There was no time to waste when Bentley Team Absolute packed up at the latest Pirelli World Challenge Championship event in Long Beach, California; it only had a few short days to get to Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. After more than 2,000 miles, the team is ready to take on its first road course since the March season opener at Circuit of the Americas. On the heels of two-straight temporary street circuits, Bentley Team Absolute is looking forward to a classic road course, which offers more track time and less concrete walls. The flowing 2.38-mile, 15-turn Barber Motorsports Park is located just outside of Alabama’s largest city, Birmingham, and is known for its gorgeous landscape, unique artwork and motor vehicle museum. Having both cars in one piece following the Long Beach round, Bentley Team Absolute is already in good shape without major maintenance to perform in the three days between events. Driver of the No. 87 Bentley Continental GT3 Andrew Palmer (US) has already tallied a Pirelli World Challenge win at Barber in 2014 and, while Adderly Fong (HK) in the No. 88 Bentley Continental GT3 is new to the circuit, he’s been busy in the simulator and studying on-board footage. Both of the 4.0L twin-turbo V8–powered Bentley Continental GT3s will kick-off the event with testing on Thursday. Saturday’s race will go green at 2:45pm ET and Sunday’s race is slated for 10:15am ET. Both races will be streamed live on world-challenge.com.
ANDREW PALMER (USA) #87 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GT3
“Barber is probably one of my favorite tracks. In 2014, I became the youngest-ever GT race winner there. I think our cars are going to be really strong. At COTA, in the second race, we had really good pace, so I think we’re going to start with that setup. It’s a fast, flowing track and I think we’ll be closer to the front there than we were at Long Beach. Hopefully, we’ll be challenging for a win.”
ADDERLY FONG (HK) #88 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GT3
“I’ve done quite a few days on the simulator preparing for Barber. It looks like a pretty good track. I like the style of it. It’s old school and high-speed without a lot of runoff and I think it will suit the Bentley really well. There’s only a few days between Long Beach and Barber, so I stayed in the U.S. and traveled straight from L.A. to Birmingham on Tuesday."
