The RGR Sport by Morand's #43 Ligier JS P2, piloted by Bruno Senna had a clean start from third position on the grid. Senna proved efficient and immediately began to chase the #26 Gdrive car. After 10 laps Senna was able to make the move on the #26 car driven by Rusinov, to move RGR Sport by Morand up to second place which sparked the energy for the remaining six hours.

The crowd at Silverstone recieved plenty of entertainment with multiple incidents on track mid race. A major crash between the #1 LMP1 Porsche and #86 LMGTE AM Gulf Racing Porsche, the #8 Audio Sport Team Joset car stalling on track, and the #5 Toyota Gazoo Racing completely blowing a tire became big influencers for RGR Sport by Morand's race strategy. Despite the distractions, Senna and Gonzalez were able to keep the LMP2 fight strong between the top three positions.

Senna took the lead during his stint and held it before handing the car over to Filipe Albuquerque. Albuquerque made it clear to the team before getting in the car that his mission was to control the pace and for the team to let him know when to push. The Portuguese driver stayed true to his character and executed each lap with precision before bringing RGR Sport by Morand machine over the finish line in first place.

Team Owner/Driver - Ricardo Gonzalez

"I'm so happy. This is the right way to start off the season. This is my first race as a team owner, and to win - wow. Hearing the Mexican anthem is the best way to start what is going to be a very tough, difficult year with such strong teams racing against us.

It's not going to be an easy year. We will have to forget about this on monday and continue working hard. We saw a lot of things today that we need to improve on for Spa."

Driver - Bruno Senna

"Such a fantastic first race for the team, I think from the beginning, we had the competitiveness and the team did a great job today. Winning the first race with a new team, and winning my first LMP2 race is a very special feeling. It was also interesting to hear the Mexican national anthem because I had never heard it before!

I'm really happy to start this year off on the right foot. There's no question that we need to keep pushing. We have so much to improve on and learn before Spa."

Driver - Filipe Albuquerque

"I got in the car last, so I had to wait a lot and watch the problems with the other cars before getting in myself. In the end, Bruno had a good start and Ricardo did a fantastic job. They were dealing with some tire issues, but still managed to hand over the car to me with a 40 second gap. From there I was just controlling the pace. I really tried to save the tires for the next stint and not having the radio communication from me to the team was difficult. It felt very old school and I definitely am not a fan, but my engineer Gautier was telling me the pace of everyone so we made it work.

I'm so happy to have won the first the first race with RGR Sport by Morand. This is a new team, but everyone has great experience so we expected a good result. Having a win straight away is just great and I think there's more to come. We have a few points to improve that will help us in the future."

Sporting and Commercial Director - Toni Calderon

"It's an amazing win for us here at Silverstone. When Ricardo and I decided to start this team, almost eight months ago, we knew that putting this lineup together we could win, but to do it in our first race, and after so much hard work is just amazing.

Hopefully this is just the beginning of many, many more wins and the top spot of the championship. We definitely need to thank everybody at RGR Sport by Morand because they have done an amazing job. Thanks to the drivers, Ricardo, Filipe, and Bruno as well for performing at their best and to our engineer Gautier, who not only gave us a great car, but came up with a great strategy for the win. From here, we just need to keep going. We still have some things we need to improve, but there's no better way to start off the season than with a win."
