The Bentley Team Absolute Continental GT3 of Andrew Palmer (US) scooped the VP Racing Fuels Hard Charger Award at the Pirelli World Challenge Grand Prix of St Petersburg, after it climbed more positions during Sunday’s race than any other car. Alongside teammate Adderly Fong (HK), Palmer and Bentley Team Absolute scored more valuable manufacturer championship points on the St. Petersburg street circuit to add to the tally from the team’s strong debut at Circuit of the Americas last week. In both of the two 50-minute races, Palmer and Fong found themselves running nose-to-tail. While swapping positions, both drivers kept their nose clean—no easy task on the 1.8-mile temporary street circuit that claimed quite a few fenders. Despite getting spun in Saturday’s race, Palmer managed to hold on to 13th with Fong close behind in 15th. Sunday’s race was filled with lengthy caution periods. Advancing an impressive seven positions in the race earned Palmer the VP Racing Fuels Hard Charger Award before the safety car curtailed his charge and he had to settle for seventh. Fong finished just outside the top-10 in 12th place. Back-to-back weekends of top-10 finishes have put Bentley in a strong position in the manufacturer points as the series heads to the Long Beach Grand Prix, April 15 – 17.

ANDREW PALMER (USA) #87 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GT3

“The team gave me a strong car this weekend and I really think if we would have had more green flag time in Sunday’s race we could have been on the podium. I had a lot of fun wheeling my Bentley through these concrete walls and was pumped to get the Hard Charger award. We’re coming away with two cars in one piece and some good manufacturer points, which is a positive weekend in my book.”

ADDERLY FONG (HK) #88 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GT3

“I really enjoy street circuits and these two races in St. Petersburg had a lot of action. Our Bentleys were quick, especially on the starts, and I was also really impressed with how my car handled through these tight and narrow corners. We’ve turned in two more strong performances and I’m really looking forward to racing at Long Beach.”
