Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg announces the renewal of its partnership with Chevrolet and Cadillac for 2016, granting Chevrolet trucks and Cadillac cars the title of official vehicles for the upcoming event, March 11-13.
In addition to providing vehicles, Chevrolet and Cadillac will have onsite exhibits showcasing cars and trucks from its 2016 vehicle lineups. Race fans will also have the opportunity to meet Verizon IndyCar Series and Pirelli World Challenge drivers who race for Team Chevy and Cadillac Racing at the displays throughout the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg weekend.
"Chevrolet and Cadillac continue to be a valuable and integral part of the event," said Kim Green, Owner, Chairman and CEO of Green Savoree Racing Promotions, organizers of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. "We are delighted to welcome the brands back for the third consecutive year and look forward to another successful collaboration, working together to make each year more memorable than the last."
The 2016 season marks the fifth year that Chevrolet has competed in the Verizon IndyCar Series with the Chevy twin turbo Indy V6 engine. The Bowtie Brand has won the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg the past four years, with Chevy-powered wins in 2012 with Helio Castroneves, 2013 with James Hinchcliffe, 2014 with Will Power and 2015 with Juan Pablo Montoya.
“We are proud to continue our partnership with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg,” said Jeff Chew, Manager Strategic Planning and Operations for Chevrolet Racing. “St. Petersburg offers an exciting platform to kick off the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series season for Team Chevy. The event is geared to give fans the ultimate experience throughout the weekend. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the Chevrolet Racing Display.”
Cadillac Racing has enjoyed a strong presence at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg both on and off the track.
“The multiple championships won by Cadillac Racing in Pirelli World Challenge demonstrate the focus of our engineering efforts, and the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is a top-shelf opportunity to showcase those efforts and engage with our fans,” said Uwe Ellinghaus, Chief Marketing Officer for Cadillac.
