My 2015 Season Updates

The 2015 season is well underway and when I am on track I have found success, however, the same hasn't been the same in the business side of racing away from the track. Success is all a person's perspective and for some since I am getting to race at all would equal success. Early in my career an older racer told me, "Race what you can afford." He also had the view that "Clowns do not pay to perform at the Circus" when talking about track promoters. This was a struggle for me early in my career as I was either racing or working. Working involved multiple jobs that offered flexible scheduling to keep up with the increasing cost of racing, marketing my sponsors or developing new sponsors. I now have a third component and that is family which has made all the difference for me to fully understand the race what you can afford.
For the start of my 2015 season I have been racing in karts locally and have collected 10 wins already. The beginning of this season has been very successful for this year as I collected 11 wins all of last year. Now my next step is preparing for stock car and sports car racing. For this is where I have not seen the success that I would like. I am having to start those races later due to funding, which is a struggle for the majority of racers. Early in my career I would take out a loan or pay with my credit card, both of which were not the best choices to do. Now days I realize that I need to race what my sponsors have budgeted for and it is my job to increase their visibility and connect them with their customers, including business to business deals. This intern will increase my budget for the following year plus has created new partnerships that has added to more sponsorship opportunities. Early on I did not do this well but I have been learning over time and the amount of racing I have entered in is increasing. Now I am currently working on a few deals that are aligned with my career goals in racing.
For the middle of the summer I will be racing in late models at Stateline Speedway and currently working with Ben Anderson Racing again to finalize a schedule that will have me racing in their equipment in the WRL. Jumping between multiple disciplines of racing is a blast and a challenge to learn the differences with handling characteristics but my sponsors have been fantastic and support me in racing in the variety of race series. I have the schedule up on my website (rogeregan.com) and hopefully I will be adding dates that include sports cars soon. Don't forget to keep up with a bunch of racing news right here on Plugged2Racing.com and I appreciate those that follow me and connect with me on Google+ and Twitter.
