The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) today announced that Porsche Motorsports North America has received a penalty of 35 manufacturer points in the GT Daytona (GTD) class for a technical rules infraction discovered in post-race inspection on May 3 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
IMSA discovered an aerodynamic component construction that was not previously approved through the necessary homologation process. The component would have been approved by IMSA had the correct submission been made.
The infraction violates Article 20.1.1 of the 2015 IMSA Technical Regulations for the GTD class. The rule states, “Any aerodynamic modifications to the original vehicle (wings, diffusers, ducts, openings, vents, etc.) must be described on the Homologation Form and approved by IMSA.”
