For the second straight race, 17th. Chaves was very close to transferring into the top twelve; however, a yellow on his last flying lap cost him the momentum needed to finish in the top six of qualifying group one. Early in the race, Chaves was battling with the #41 car and made slight contact resulting in a broken left-front wing. However, the pit stop and wing change didn't cost the #98 team more than one or two positions in the final tally. Chaves brought the Bowers & Wilkins and Castrol EDGE machine home in 16th position. Gabby Chaves: “We’re almost always stronger than the cars immediately in front of us; however, the race pace was dictated by the people in front of us because passing was so difficult. We have to focus more on qualifying and start up front where we’re capable of running race pace wise. Better days are coming for sure!” Bryan Herta: “Qualifying didn’t go our way because of a late yellow on our last flying lap. We made a few changes for the warm-up and were the third quickest which was very encouraging. But as Gabby said, we have to work on qualifying better. We have the race pace, but track position is so important because passing is so difficult.”
