As drivers rev up their engines at the 12 Hours of Sebring event this weekend, the Fifty Plus Racing Foundation team will be raising support and encouraging donations for Alzheimer’s research as well as for unfunded caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients. The team of vintage car racers will be participating in this year’s Sebring endurance race with the same driver line up featured at the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Jim Pace, Byron DeFoor, David Hinton and Dorsey Schroeder will all be taking the wheel at this year’s race.

“The search for a cure to Alzheimer’s is an endurance race in itself, making endurance races like the 12 Hours of Sebring a natural fit for our team and our mission,” said Byron DeFoor, driver and co-founder of the Fifty Plus Racing Foundation. “Nearly everyone has been impacted by Alzheimer’s in some way, and we hope racing fans and fellow racers who see us on the track will be encouraged to donate to a cause which has the power to save countless lives.”

Currently, there are five million Americans living with Alzheimer’s, and those numbers are expected to triple in the coming years. By taking part in four Endurance Cup races leading up to the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, the Fifty Plus Racing Foundation hopes to raise enough money and support to help ultimately close the door on Alzheimer’s for good. In addition to its cure research efforts, the Fifty Plus Foundation also aims to support those individuals who volunteer their time and resources to care for loved ones with Alzheimer’s.

“I am so thankful to the Fifty Plus team for helping shed light in the racing world and at large on a cause that has debilitated so many individuals and families,” said recent donor, Angie Miller “I decided to donate to the Foundation after watching firsthand a loved one deteriorate and pass away from the disease. My hope in contributing to the Fifty Plus Racing Foundation is that my child will never have to experience that same pain.”

Interested donors can contribute to the Foundation through PayPal on the Foundation’s website, by calling 1-800-349-1753 or by texting ACDC to 51555.
