This season IndyCar is finally shedding most of it's remnants of the absolute spec series it became in the 2000's, joining the 21st century in technology and looking forward with manufacturer created aero kits. The series has already had major speed bumps with the non existent Abu Dhabi race and Brazillian Grand Prix cancellation, but with the newly reinstated season opener in St Petersburg coming up and buzz surrounding aero kits it's still looking like this could be another step in taking IndyCar forward in motorsports. Freedom to create body work (brand identity), multiple engine manufacturers (with more showing interest in joining), new venues and cities wanting IndyCars on their streets and courses and advancing technology while not making money rain in spending like Formula 1.

The coming season could see records broken at Indy as well as most of the tracks on the schedule. Some may see this buzz, positivity and optimism as “looking through rose colored glasses,” but with Nascar giving it's fans gimmicky confusion instead of traditional racing and teams in F1 (Formula Bernie) spending collectively billions to race with it's leader looking ever the more senile, it's making world seem rosier for Indy and the others looking seemingly blind. It's an opportunity to make a big impression in the motorsport world this year, so IndyCar has to grab it and own it. As Ralph Fiennes' character Gareth Mallory said in the James Bond film Skyfall “Good luck 007... Don't cock it up.”

Which manufacturer will have the advantage? One could believe Honda will have the upper hand on the twisties with their vast experience in F1 and other advanced road racing, while Chevy could take point at the ovals with historical experience at American oval racing.
